How to tell which PassMe you need.
Thanks to MaHe, we can now tell which Firmware version your DS has prior to purchasing a PassMe1/2, this way you know which one you need.
This information is taken from his post on gbadev.org forums.
Instructions:
1. Insert a DS game in NDS slot.
2. Turn up your DS (Hold START for boot menu) and open Pictochat, room A.
3. Now remove the NDS cartridge from the NDS slot (don't worry, you can't do much harm).
4. Both screens should turn in the same color.
If the screens don't turn YELLOW (and you're not using iQue DS), it is a safe bet that it's PassME1 and WiFiME compatible.
The color 'chart':
- FW1: DS will freeze, when you remove the cart.
- FW2: Grayish Blue (thanks, tepples)
- FW3: Dark Green (Note! A silver DS bought in MK:DS bundle is most probably NOT installed with FW4!)
- FW4: Yellow
- FW5: Magenta
- iQue FW: Dark Green
- FlashME: Dark Green

If you have FW1,2, or 3, you can use PassMe1. If you have FW4 or 5, you need PassMe2.
